These are dull words.
Job applications.
No-one I know ever had much fun in the process of applying for a job, especially if their having to do so was involuntary.
Getting the job is another story. It is a different thing altogether. This is party time, Mardi Gras, drinks-are-on-me, break-open-the-champagne kind of times, but applying for jobs is tough, thankless and often demoralising work.
Remember this: you apply for an interview, not a job.
Really?
If you understand and accept the difference, you are already one step ahead.
Job applications are a means to get from the job target to the interview.
It is a means to an end, not an end in itself.
It cannot in itself achieve a job offer or a job start or the path to eternal happiness etc.
It is a first step, something to get that initial ?foot in the door?.
Without it, you won?t get to the interview and obviously won?t get the job either.
So this part of the process is vitally important, and, in this blog, you will find a number of articles and tip-sheets providing guidance on how to go about it.
